Last month, High Point Market held its spring event. With over 2,000 exhibitors presenting tens of thousands of new products, tracking trends was not an easy task. At the Style Spotters event, designers from different areas of the country with different levels of expertise tried to demonstrate what articles displayed at HPMKT had trendsetting potential.
Amid an apparent brainstorming disconnect I was able to track converging elements and colors and identify a few pieces on my own. Below is my mood board of interior design trends for 2015:
- Colors: Metallic, “Au Plein Air“
- Natural Fibers
- Organic Shapes
- Native American Patterns
When asked about “what was on its way out” of trend, all designers agreed that geometrics, grays and the “restoration hardware” look have been abused enough, as well as nailhead trims. It was refreshing to hear designers are looking for multifunctional pieces, sustainably built furnishings and articles that have true value beyond the price tag.
